Grimm Up North is a three day Rock and Metal festival showcasing the work of bands from all over the world who have come together in support of Cancer Research UK. The event will take place at The Elizabethan Suite in Bury and 2019’s proceedings will be running from the evening of Friday 8th March until the evening of Sunday 10th March. Tickets are available to buy online and a limited amount will be available on the door.
This year marks the second visit to Bury for the Grimm Up North team who set up the festival last year in response to extraordinary circumstances faced by their friend Steve Grimmett (Grim Reaper) who was in urgent need of funds to raise thousands of pounds for life–saving surgery in South America.
Speaking about last year’s event, Steve Grimmett commented “the event touched my heart to say the least. The thought of my (musical) brothers and sisters doing that for me was something that was difficult to get used to. This year it’s for such a worthy cause and should be supported so please come and support us in our quest to do good for deserving causes”
Grimm Up North is perhaps the latest to join Bury’s auspicious list of festivals but it certainly sets a bar of it’s own when it comes to showing the power music in our community. Once again, the festival has attracted talent from all over the world as well as a few who have travelled from well… just down the road. Local rockers Sister Rose and Vice feature on a phenomenal line-up headlined by Blitzkrieg (Friday), Grim Reaper (Saturday) and Vardis (Sunday). Organiser Kevin Wynn plays bass guitar in Tysondog who have recently been in the studio working on some material for their next release. Kevin has extended his personal gratitude to all involved but in particular to: Craig Fearnley and Jonathan Timms for their part in co–organising the event, Steve Morrison (Tysondog) for this year’s artwork, Paul Gilligan (Wasp Merchandise) for the t–shirts and hoodies, Paul at PWD for printing posters and flyers, Andy and DJ Demonize Debs for taking up DJ and compere duties as well as his good friends Paul Lord and Andy Spence.
