Anybody who happens to be a Facebook friend of mine will have noticed me banging on about Night by Night for a few weeks now. The British hard rockers , who feature Ben Christo (SISTERS OF MERCY guitarist) in their ranks, will release their brand new album “NxN“, on July 11 (Europe),July 14 (UK) and July 15 (USA/Canada) via A Sun Hill Production/Cargo Records.
Produced by Romesh Dodangoda (Motörhead, Bullet For My Valentine, Sylosis) at Outhouse studios, engineered by Rob Thomas, lead vocals produced & engineered by Ben Christo & Henry Rundell and mixed by John Mitchell (Alter Bridge, Asia, Snakecharmer) at Outhouse studios “NxN” features ten songs of such quality that it is clear why Def Leppard’s Rick Savage said “Real songs with great riffs and vocal harmonies. Packing the best ot the 80’s with a youthful, fresh enthusiasm”.
Now, I think the 80s influence is there (well, I would wouldn’t I?) but like all the best of the current crop of melodic rockers, Night by Night are not aiming to produce a time-machine of an album. Rather the songs and production are pure 21st century. Second track, “Holding on to Holding On” is already my tune of the summer (you know the sort, window down, stereo turned up) – riffs and drive blending with a chorus that is catchier than ………… (fill in your own, questionable synonym/euphemism here). New single, “A Thousand Lies” opens with harmony vocals then proceeds to hammer at you with the guitars and rhythm section acting as stunning counterpoint to the melodic vocals.
I know that the band have been working hard at producing a stunnig album and aiming to get the release bang on (so as to avoid being lost in the festival season) and this long awaited release is soon with us. To coincide with this the boys have announced two shows to launch the album:
17th July – The Borderline, London
18th July – The Railway Venue, Bolton
With such obvious verve, passion and sophistication ight by Night deserve to be your newest favourite band!
