The Who have announced their final tour – in two years’ time – when the veteran rockers will hang up their instruments for good.
More than 30 years after their first ‘final tour’, Pete Townshend has revealed the band want to bring the curtain down on their epic career with a global tour in 2015 in what will be the band’s 50th anniversary.
Townshend tells the London Evening Standard: “For the 50th anniversary we’ll tour the world. It’ll be the last big one for us. There are still plenty of places we’ve not played. It would be good to go to Eastern Europe and places that haven’t heard us play all the old hits.”
The Who recently completed a documentary on the making of their classic 1969 ‘rock opera’ Tommy which screened earlier this week in England. In addition to the documentary the band are also releasing a super-deluxe version of the album on November 11, which will include demos, out-takes, and live recordings of the songs from the album.
