Quireboys in Spike’s home town of Newcastle is ALWAYS a blast and this one didn’t disappoint! Supported by the fabulous Bad Touch (Hunt them down you won’t regret it!) and Euro-rockers; Bonafide (Went down fantastically well with the audience who had ALL heard of them before…all but me…as usual!) , The Quireboys then burst onto stage to thunderous applause and we had a blast!
It always feels like a party atmosphere when Spike comes home and he sure was in the mood for a drink (Of ‘watervodka’ of course!) With lots of his friends and family in attendance he, along with the band, pulled out another memorable Newcastle performance gracing us with those wonderful old treasures such as ‘Hey You’ and ‘7 O’Clock’ along with a few newer songs from their new album ‘Beautiful Curse’ (Available HERE and totally worth the money!!)
Ending the night with the Blaydon Races (being a Mackem we have our own version but thought it not very tactful in a room full of Geordies so kept my mouth shut!) to send everyone home happy!
The Quireboys are still one of the best rock acts in this country today and the audience ranged from us old buggers who were there from the start, to the very young and everyone inbetween! If you have yet to see them live they tour ALL the time so you have no excuse! Get yourself along to a show and support this home-grown talent!
Must say a MASSIVE thank you to Julie, David, Katie and Lucy for the birthday present ticket 🙂 One of the best prezzies ever! 🙂
