Dynamic young German newcomers Gloomballs hugely accomplished, excellently produced debut album, The Distance, released on April 29th on SPV / Steamhammer, mixes diverse musical elements to create their own delicious rock / metal hybrid sound.
Guitarist Björn Daigger, who composed the majority of the tracks with vocalist Alen Ljubic, explains,We refer to our material simply as rock music, but you could also call it alternative metal or modern rock, adding, At the end of the day, our range includes elements from pop to death metal. In addition, there are classic orchestra parts as well as ultra-deep seven-string guitars. There are no stylistic taboos in Gloomball.
Formed in 2010, Gloomball honed their sound down in the rehearsal studio during the first year of their existence, before venturing out on the road to become a hot live act with an ever growing number of fans, won over supporting the likes of Dillinger Escape Plan, Ektomorf, Neaera, Ignite and Parkway Drive.
After recording only two demo CDs, an impressive number of renowned record companies expressed much interest in Gloomball, who opted to sign to SPVs Steamhammer label after something of a bidding war.
All Stoked Up, Gloomball stormed into the studio to put down The Distance, incorporating four radically re-recorded tracks from their scorching 2 demos, plus seven brand new songs, and a cover of Robert M. Teppers No Easy Way Out from classic movie Rocky IV.
From the moment you hear the opening bars of first song Overcome, you will want to go ALL the distance and listen to this entire addictive album in one gloriously enveloping go.
