earMUSIC, the Hamburg based international rock label part of Edel Group, is proud to welcome The Resistance, and to announce the release of their debut 4 track EP “Rise From Treason” on January 28th 2013, followed by a full-length album in May 2013. The EP will be released as download, CD and limited edition 7″ vinyl.
The Resistance will be THE extreme metal band in the next year. The band members’ “CV” is as heavy as the sound of their new musical adventure. The four Swedish musicians carry a great legacy in the great Scandinavian extreme metal tradition. In Flames’ founding member (and main songwriter until his departure in 2010) Jesper Strömblad is one of the “columns” of the huge Resistance sound, which ensembles the good old violent sound of Swedish Death Metal mixed with raw energy hardcore nuances in a 2013 blend.
The band also features other musicians with extensive music experience under their belt.
Together with Jesper, we find another ex-member of In Flames, Glenn Ljungström, vocalist Marco Aro (ex-The Haunted, Facedown) and drummer Chris Barkensjö (ex-Kaamos, ex-Grave).
The Resistance is not a super-group, or a side project. It is a band, it’s a gang, embracing the musical attitude and sounds of Swedish old school death metal and the old “no compromise” values of hardcore. The band is currently in the studio finishing its first full length album, scheduled for a May 2013 release around the globe. That long-player will definitely tear people’s ears apart and break their necks.
Shredding guitar riffs, blasting beats and screaming out a lot of anger, The Resistance will take no prisoners and make no compromises with their old school death-metal. The band will kick off their year of extreme aggression in January when they will perform at the Gothenburg Sound Festival in their hometown of Gothenburg (Sweden) on January 5th, 2013.
