Asia have cancelled their 30th anniversary UK tour after drummer Carl Palmer was struck with a severe attack of E.coli.
The band have called off all seven dates, which were due to kick off on Saturday. Ticketholders are advised to consult their vendor for refund information.
Escherichia coli is a bacterium which causes serious food poisoning and, in some cases, pneumonia and peritonitis. The 102 million-year-old organism caused a widespread outbreak of illness across Europe and North America last year
Asia guitarist Steve Howe recently explained why the band could only operated with its original members – himself, Palmer, John Wetton and Geoff Downes – while his other outfit, Yes, could successfully change lineups.
He said: “”Yes and Asia are very different kinds of creatures, really. It must be personalities. Asia doesn’t work unless it is the original guys.”
