After splitting up in 2001 and then sporadic reunions since 2007 I for one thought the possibility of a new record from the Bradford boys would be highly unlikely…not for the first time I was wrong. 2011 “Super Deluxe” saw the newly re-energised band back on top form and built on their tour in 2010. Tony, Leigh, Mark, (new boy) Cameron and Milton brought their “Rocktoberfest” tour to a close at The HMV Ritz in Manchester.
What a show it was. Right from the opening burst of “discotheque Wreck”, Tony exploded into a whirling, bouncing hyperactive blast of enjoyment and with him came the band and the packed out venue. Happy, smiling, singing along and just plain bonkers a Terrorvision show has always been a huge ball of fun – the ravages of time seem to have spared them (certainly in terms of the performance).
Mixing new songs, old favourites, seldom played tracks with the more obvious hits (radio stations – the proper version of “Tequila” has a proper swing to it, so stop playing the “Zoe Ball” version!) the set had something for everyone – which it should considering the 20 year history that the set reflected. All delivered with Tony Wright’s trademark knowing wink. Like all the best bands, Terrorvison are quite clearly having a ball – and we were all invited along for the ride.
A top night at the Ritz with the mighty Terrorvision. Once again they gave it everything. That is how bands should look on stage. It was like watching teenagers play to their mates. Missed this time round? Don’t miss them next time.
