Rolling Stones bassist and guitarist Ronnie Wood claims his ex-wife Jo has arranged an auction of his artwork and memorabilia without consulting him.
He says he’s “shocked,” “staggered” and “saddened” by the move, which sees some of his personal belongings, including two custom Fender Strats, going under the hammer in Los Angeles in October.
The pair divorced in 2011 after a marriage that lasted 24 years. They separated in 2008 after Wood started a relationship with 20-year-old waitress Ekaterina Ivanova.
Former model Jo Wood insists the items which are to be sold by Julien’s Auctions in Beverley Hills all belong to her. They include portraits of Eric Clapton and Bob Dylan painted by her ex-husband, plus a harp, a four-poster bed, a tour stove and stage gear worn by the Stones.
Wood’s spokesman told press: “Ronnie was asked by Jo some time ago if he wished to add some items to an auction. He said he did not want to. He is therefore shocked and disappointed that this auction is being misrepresented as a joint sale – this is not the case.
“He is staggered that some of the items being offered are clearly his personal belongings. They are not hers to sell.
“Ronnie feel saddened that Jo has taken this course of action, and wants the public to know he has not teamed up on this outrageous sale.”
But a spokesman for his ex said: “This is Jo’s action. It includes all the items left to her following the divorce. She’s had everything in storage for three years and can’t keep it any longer. Ronnie has been kept in the loop.”
Meanwhile, the Rolling Stones have confirmed their documentary Crossfire Hurricane will be shown live in over 250 cinemas in the UK and Ieland on October 18. It will be transmitted from the premiere at the 2012 London Film Festival and coverage will include red-carpet interviews with the band.
