Alice Cooper made a surprise appearance in a London theatre last night (Tuesday) to perform his hit track School’s Out during musical Rock of Ages – see the video below.
And while most of the audience weren’t expecting to see the shock-rock icon, it wasn’t a complete shock to stars Shayne Wade and Justin Lee Collins.
Last week Cooper set the rumour mill in motion when he tweeted: “Hearing that Rock of Ages in London is good. But worthy of me crashing their little show? I’ll be the judge of that?”
He linked to a clip from classic movie Wayne’s World, in which stars Mike Myers and Dana Carvey grovelled before him, crying: “We’re not worthy!”
During his gatecrashing performance cast members stood in the background repeating the movie’s grovelling while he led the crowd through his song’s singalong sections.
Cooper is in London to promote his third annual UK Halloween show, which takes place at Wembley Arena on October 29 as part of his Night of Fear tour.
Rock of Ages, the acclaimed musical which started life on Broadway in 2006, earlier this year spawned a movie version starring Tom Cruise with guest appearances from Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, David Lee Roth, Whitesnake and others. It hasn’t achieved the success of its live-action cousin.
