Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee has lashed out at fans who chase him for photographs.
He insists he loves his followers – but hates being pursued for pictures, which he thinks are just for “bragging rights.”
And he hopes the day comes when no one wants to pose for a photo with him.
Lee says: “I fucking love my fans. What I have a problem with is taking pictures. I hate it. It irritates the fuck out of me when people say, ‘You owe it to your fans.’ I don’t owe anybody anything.
“When I bought all my Led Zeppelin records and concert tickets I didn’t say, ‘One day these fuckers are going to owe me a picture, it’s the least they can do for me.’
“You don’t admire something so that it can give back – you just cherish it. I’m not here to take pictures with you. I’m here to entertain you.”
The drummer says he’s been warned the day could come when no one will want a photo of him. But he says that moment “can’t come soon enough” for him.
He most hates those who don’t consider the situation before demanding a photo opportunity.
“You wouldn’t want a handshake standing at the pisser in the bathroom next to me, would you?” he asks. “And yes, that’s happened to me too. Or when you’re eating a nice quiet meal with your family, some rude jackass comes up and asks for a picture.
“I understand the excitement and all – but just take a second and think: is this cool right now? Be conscious.
“Do we really need a silly picture? For what, bragging rights? Someone’s not going to believe you if you don’t have the proof pic? Then fuck ‘em!”
Lee says pulling out a camera is “the fastest way to get me to leave” and adds: “Maybe just say hello, and I’ll probably take you home with me. Well, I’d have to ask my girlfriend first!”
