There is to be a special festival this summer to mark the 10th anniversary of Clash leader Joe Strummer’s death.
Called Strummer Of Love, it happens from August 17-19 at a currently secret location in the middle of Somerset. The bill has yet to be confirmed, but will feature musicians and fans influenced by the iconic Clash mainman.
All proceeds from the festival will go to the charity Strummerville: The Joe Strummer New Music Foundation, which was set up in the singer’s memory by his friends and family.
And in the spirit of DIY that Joe Strummer stood for, Strummer Of Love will be the only major UK festival to handle its own ticket sales. Strummerville will also have a forum for re-sale of tickets.
The first 1,001 of the 5,000 tickets will go on sale (April 11) at a price of £101. This is in honour of The 101′ers, Strummer’s first proper band.
