The reunited Black Sabbath have finally confirmed their one-off American show – and, surprise, surprise, it’ll be at the Lollapalooza festival in August. Why surprise? Well… you might just recall that Ozzfest started when Lollapalooza organisers refused to let Ozzy Osbourne join the bill!
The other main attractions at Lollapalooza are the Black Keys and Red Hot Chili Peppers. The festival takes place in Chicago’s Grant Park from August 3-5.
Sabbath will play their only North American show at Lollapalooza. They were forced to reshuffle their reunion plans, due to guitarist Tony Iommi’s ongoing battle with lymphoma.
The only other show Sabbath have booked is at Download on June 10.
Just for the record, here’s Sharon Osbourne on why she launched Ozzfest back in 1996:
“I asked if Ozzy could play Lollapalooza and they laughed at the idea. They all thought Ozzy was so uncool. So I thought, ‘Right, I’ll organise my own fucking festival.’”
What goes around…
