The legacy of the Small Faces and The Faces is to be celebrated at a festival this summer.
The Itchycoo Park Festival happens on June 2/3 at Hurtwood Park Polo Club in Ewhurst Green. The line-up has yet to be confirmed, but there are to be two stages.
“It’s a chance for us to celebrate our induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame with British fans,” drummer Kenney Jones told Classic Rock.
The Hall Of Fame induction happens in Cleveland, Ohio on April 14, when The Faces will perform two of their songs, plus one by the Small Faces. Jones and keyboard player Ian McLagan [who were in both bands] will be involved, as will Ronnie Wood. Although at the moment it’s not known whether Rod Stewart will be.
“In America, they see the two bands as being very closely linked,” admits Jones, “which is why the Small Faces and The Faces are effectively being inducted together. Part of the reason for this is that the debut Faces album [1970’s First Step] came out in the States under the name of the Small Faces.”
