Aerosmith will be contributing a song to the G.I. Joe: Retaliation film soundtrack.
The track – titled Legendary Child – is an outtake from their 1993 Get A Grip album.
The previously unreleased song will also appear on the band’s next studio album, which they are currently working on with producer Jack Douglas.
Guitarist Brad Whitford Whitford told The Times News: “We’ve got a new song that’s gonna be used in a major motion picture this summer, so that’s probably the first new music fans will get to hear. We may even debut it [when we appear on] on American Idol in May.”
Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler is a judge on American Idol.
You can listen to an early version of Legendary Child here. If all the new album sounds like this, it’s going to be a stormer.
G.I. Joe: Retaliation will be in cinemas this summer.
But while the band ready their new album, an edition of the US TV show 60 Minutes over the weekend featured candid interviews with all five members. And it highlighted the ongoing tensions between Joe Perry and Steven Tyler.
When asked whether there had ever been a full-on fight between the pair, Perry said: “That would damage the relationship too much; besides he needs his jaw to sing”.
Tyler responded to this quip with the following: “It’s a terrible message that sends. I always sleep with one eye open with him… He needs his jaw to sing? Does that mean that maybe there’s a fight in the near future? I think he’s still got a good, strong ego”.
