The Velvet Underground are taking legal action over a banana!
The band are angry that the Andy Warhol Foundationhas sold the iconic banana design, which was used on the cover of the 1967 albumThe Velvet Underground & Nico, to Apple. This is for use in iPad and iPhone products.
In the lawsuit, the band claim that the image has become closely associated with them, and that by selling it the Foundation are cheapening the Velvet Underground and linking them with products theyd never endorse.
Things could yet get a lot fruitier before the legal situation is resolved.
