Jim Sherwood, an original member of the hugely influential The Mothers Of Invention, has died.
The woodwind player passed away on Christmas Day at the age of 69. A multi-instrumentalist, Sherwood was a childhood friend of Frank Zappa and appeared on the first five albums from the band, as well as theBurnt Weeny Sandwich andWeasels Ripped My Fleshalbums, which were both released after their 1969 split.
Known by the nickname of Motorhead (because he was always repairing cars, trucks and motorbikes), he also played on various Zappa albums, as well as appearing in the celebrated cult movie200 Motels.
